ReplyDeleteThis graph illustrates, in period between 1900 and 200 in the USA, the percentage of the population over 65 years old. Looking at the graph is possible to observe the increased of this part of the population during one century.
ReplyDeleteAs it is showed by the graph, people between 65 and 74 years old have always been more the three quarter. Only in the 1990 the percentage of them reach a level below three quarter. It means that in the early past there was a lower expectative of live. It has been raising during the years reaching a peak at 7.3 .
The same process has happened to 75 and over population. In the 1990 the percentage of these portion of people were only 1.2, with an especial focused on the 85 overage that was only 0.2. This part of the population reached a peak in the 2000 with 1.5 % . The population around this age has never sunk, with a constant soar.
The bar graph shows that over 65-year-old people’s share of population in the USA 100 year’s period from 1900. Overall it increased more than times three from 1900.
ReplyDelete75-84 years old people increased gradually in the century and marked more than 400% from 1% in the beginning of graph in 1900. More than 85-year-old people also continuously grow this 100-year period from 0.2% share to 1.5% share. 65-74 year-old people ware 2.9% of total population in the USA in 1900. After that slightly increased until 7.3% in 1990. In centrally, it decreased 8 point in 10-year period, and finally it marked 6.5% in 2000.
In generally, older than 65 years old people took over 10% share from 1980 even though only 4.1% in 1900, and more than 75 years old people’s share ware increasing dramatically.
The bar chart illustrates the proportion of people aged 65 and above, in US over a period of one century.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the graph, the population of people aged 65-74 represented about 2/3 of the total population census in the starting year, 1900. However, in this same year, the combined population of people aged 75 and above represented only 1/3 of the total US population. While this was the case in the year 1900, over the period of one century, the fractional make-up of the population varied. This variation involved a gradual decrease of 65-74 aged population from 2/3 of the population to about 1/2, and inversely a gradual increase in the combined population of people aged 75 and above from a total of 1/3 to 1/2 of the population.
In conclusion, the graph showed that during this period, not only did the US population increase, but it also showed an increased longevity in the later decades.
